Shillong, June 23: A new and simpler portal for the incoming Goods and Services Tax regime went live on Tuesday that will enable easy filing of returns and tax payments through credit/debit cards and other modes information . The Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, Meghalaya today informed that from the 25th June, 2017 onwards, various services will run on the GSTN portal which includes migration of existing taxpayers, registration of new taxpayers under GST, TDS registration, TCS registration and registration of OIDBAR (Online Information and Database Access and Retrieval Services).
Taxpayers have 3 months time to submit the documents and information. Till then, they can operate with Provisional ID, i.e., the GST Identification Number or GSTIN.
New taxpayers have 30 days to apply for registration and need not rush to the portal on the first day of opening of the portal, i.e., 25th June, 2017.
