Shangpliang is a habitual delinquent of Govt rules: BJP

Shillong, July 12: The BJP Meghalaya Unit has threatened to take up with the Centre if no action is taken against nominated IAS officer, H.M. Shangpliang.
The demand came after a video went viral where Shangpliang was seen addressing a meeting of the Lawbah Area Congress Committee under Mawsynram Assembly Constituency.
Shangpliang who is still in service, may contest on Congress ticket against suspended Congress MLA/MDC P.N. Syiem from Mawsynram in the upcoming Assembly election.
Syiem is at present the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.
A statement issued by BJP vice president, J.A. Lyngdoh said, “the nominated IAS officer’s infraction the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1986 is rather eccentric that leaves the room to relentless criticism and lack of control on the part of the government under Dr. Mukul Sangma as chief Minister.”
Stating that Shangpliang is a habitual delinquent of government rules, the BJP demanded stern action by way of removing the said officer from his present position pending departmental proceeding.
“Any attempt to protect the officer from his endeavor will persuade the state BJP to take recourse with the appropriate authority in the Government of India, so as to ensure that officers in Government service, does not take undue advantage for political and personal gain,”
