Shillong, Nov 22: Shillong Round Table-252 has adopted Mohan Massar School at Mawprem for renovation of school building as well as providing proper infrastructure as part of its ‘Freedom through Education'(FTE).
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Chairman of the Shillong Round Table 252, Arnav Chachan said that the organization wanted to empower underprivileged children through education.
Following an agreement with the school authorities, the organization has undertaken the task of constructing the entire school with new RCC structure and the cost of the project would be around Rs 2 crore.
To generate funds for building the school and provide other facilities to children, the Shillong Round Table 252 in collaboration “Round Table India” is organizing its fund raising event “Brain Humour”.
Stand-up comedian, Zakir Khan popularly known as “Sakht Launda” will feature in this event at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on November 25. Khan will be coming to Shillong for the first time.
The price of ticket is Rs 1000, Rs 700 and Rs 400.
In the last three years since its inception, the Shillong Round Table (SRT) had adopted Balika Vidhalaya School, Keating Road, and had constructed new toilets & septic tanks besides renovation of existing building at Rs 17 lakh.
Other social activities include awareness program on women and children rights, Celebrating world disabled day& relief fund, Nepal relief fund, Assam relief fund, Garo hills flood relief, Independence day and Republic day celebrations as well.
