Shillong, Nov 7: Former pressure group leader-turned-politician, Sounder Strong Cajee has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after joining the party six months ago with an intention to contest as its candidate in the upcoming 2018 Assembly elections from South Shillong constituency.
In his resignation letter submitted to the BJP state president, Shibun Lyngdoh here on Tuesday, Cajee said, “the reason for his decision is due to unavoidable circumstances”.
Cajee had joined the BJP on May 31 along with former minister, Manas Chaudhuri where both were formally welcomed in separate functions held at Laban.
Cajee had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Assembly elections from South Shillong, a constituency currently represented by NCP state chief, Sanbor Shullai.
