Special Outreach Programmes on Health Awareness held

Shillong,Jan 10: A one-day workshop on Health Awareness was held on Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of India Conference Hall Under the themes Intensified Mission Indradhanush, TB, Leprocy and Mission Parivar Vikas.

Organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity Shillong Region. After the inauguration Director NERCoRMP, K Hrishikesh Singh stressed on adequate nutrition in addition to awareness on vaccination. He also added that the period of 1000 days from conception till the second birthday is the most impactful in a child’s life and hence the 1000 days from conception can break inter-generational deficiency through poverty.

Director of Health Services, Government of Meghalaya, Dr B Mawthoh also highlighted the need for intensified coverage of Mission Indradhanush which has been launched from the 8th of January across the state. She added that the most cost effective method of battling illnesses is through immunization.

Dr Engam Pame, Director , DFP urged all Field Officers to encourage change and opined that DFP’s foot soldiers can make a significant change in media shadow areas.
The Technical session was chaired by Dr Ahmed Muyeen Farooqi, Regional Head, DFP Assam, Dr A.E Pasweth, Dr B Wanbah and Dr A Marak spoke on Intensified Mission Indradhanush, RNTCP and Leprosy respectively.

The workshop was attended by Field Officers of DFP, Officials of PIB, All India Radio, Doordarshan and Directorate of Health Services.
