Shillong, September 24, 2026: Shillong Lajong FC recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Laitkor in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at the SSA Stadium on Thursday, moving to the top of the standings.

Freddy Jyrwa (27’), Rimankhraw Kharumnuid (63’) and Iohborlang L. Lyngkhoi (77’ penalty) were on target for Lajong.

The victory takes Lajong to 14 points from seven matches, while defending champions Langsning remain second with 13 points from six games. Mawlai are third with 11 points from five matches.

Laitkor had previously lost all three of their SPL meetings against Lajong and struggled to create clear scoring opportunities throughout Thursday’s match.

Laitkor goalkeeper Deranius Wahlang made an early intervention in the fourth minute, diving to keep out Galbraith Laitmon’s free-kick.

Lajong eventually broke the deadlock in the 27th minute following a defensive misunderstanding between Deranius and Richarles Rani. Samchaphrang Lato played the ball forward for Freddy Jyrwa, who was pressured by Richarles. The defender appeared to expect Deranius to collect the ball, but the goalkeeper hesitated, allowing Freddy to finish.

Laitkor struggled to produce a response after the break. Wadskhem Marbaniang managed their only significant shot on target, but Lajong goalkeeper Lakpa Lama gathered it comfortably.

Lajong doubled their lead in the 63rd minute after exploiting space on the left. The ball was switched across the pitch to an unmarked Rimankhraw Kharumnuid, who controlled it with one touch before firing past Deranius.

Lajong were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute after Riborlang L. Lyngkhoi was brought down inside the box. Iohborlang L. Lyngkhoi converted from the spot to complete the 3-0 win.

The result puts Lajong at the top temporarily. Eighth-placed Nangkiew Irat will face unbeaten Mawlai at 3pm on Friday. Mawlai can return to the top with a victory, having a superior goal difference of +7 compared with Lajong’s +4.
