Shillong, September 9: Bottom-placed Mylliem produced a spirited performance to hold title contenders Shillong Lajong to a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at the SSA Stadium here on Wednesday.

The result earned Mylliem their first point of the season after four successive defeats, while Lajong conceded their first goals of the campaign.

Iohborlang L Lyngkhoi (7′), Lalmuansanga (65′) and Deibormame Tongper (76′) scored for Lajong, while Wanpynshngain Nongsteng (25′), Shaibor Nongrum (52′) and Istarbor Marngar (70′) found the net for Mylliem.

Lajong took an early lead when Iohborlang curled a free-kick over the wall after Istarbor had fouled Freddy B Jyrwa just outside the Mylliem box. The effort struck the upright before finding the back of the net.

Lajong created several opportunities to extend their advantage, but Mylliem responded with a corner from Remark Kharmalki, which Wanpynshngain met with a sharp header to make it 1-1.

The goal ended Lajong’s run of 300 minutes without conceding in SPL 2026.

Lajong regained momentum and came close through Colinsalmon Lyngdoh, but Mylliem goalkeeper Rihoklang Khongjoh produced an important save. Lajong thought they had restored their lead in the 44th minute, but Lalmuansanga’s effort was ruled out for offside.

Mylliem came out aggressively after the break and took the lead in the 52nd minute when Shaibor smashed a left-footed effort into the net.

The advantage did not last long. Lalmuansanga found space inside the box and headed in a cross from the right flank in the 65th minute to restore parity.

Mylliem immediately responded again. Istarbor unleashed a long-range effort in the 70th minute that curled through the air before dipping over Lajong goalkeeper Banshanskhem Kharsyntiew to put Mylliem 3-2 ahead.

Lajong, however, hit back six minutes later when Deibormame Tongper flicked another cross into the net while running to make it 3-3.

Mylliem continued pushing for a winning goal and threw players forward in the closing stages, but neither side could find the decisive breakthrough.

Wanpynshngain and veteran Milancy Khongstia were particularly impressive in Mylliem’s defensive effort as they helped frustrate Lajong for long periods.

Despite remaining at the bottom of the table, the point and their performance against one of the league’s leading sides could provide Mylliem with a much-needed boost for the remainder of the campaign.

Lajong, meanwhile, move to the top of the standings with 11 points, but second-placed Mawlai are only one point behind and have a game in hand.
