Shillong, September 17, 2026: Rangdajied United continued their recovery in the Shillong Premier League 2026 with a 2-1 win over Nangkiew Irat at the SSA Stadium on Thursday.

Mebannangkiew Thabah (18’) and Micky Marwein (81’) scored for Rangdajied, while Ronaldkydon L Nonglait (32’) found the net for Nangkiew Irat.

The victory gave Rangdajied back-to-back wins after they went without a victory in their opening three matches. The result lifted them from eighth to sixth in the standings.

Rangdajied, Nangkiew Irat and Meghalaya Police are all on seven points, along with fifth-placed Nongkseh, with goal difference and goals scored separating the teams. Nangkiew Irat dropped to seventh, while Meghalaya Police moved to eighth.

Rangdajied looked more organised than in their earlier outings, displaying improved passing, ball control and decision-making throughout the match.

Gideon Mukhim was particularly effective on the right flank and set up the opening goal in the 18th minute. After Mebatskhem L Lyngkhoi’s long-range effort struck the woodwork, Gideon reacted quickly to the rebound and delivered a cross that Mebannangkiew tapped in.

Nangkiew Irat had an opportunity to equalise five minutes later when Rangdajied goalkeeper Meshan Banjop Sumer spilled a ball, but they were unable to capitalise.

Nangkiew goalkeeper Akash Thapa, making his first appearance of the season, then produced an important save in the 28th minute to deny Rangdajied from close range. Rangdajied put the rebound into the net, but the effort was ruled offside.

Nangkiew gradually gained possession and created opportunities, with Jefferson Pakyntein seeing his effort blocked by Ejingmut Dkhar before Yhoto Lohe’s close-range attempt was deflected away.

Nangkiew eventually drew level in the 32nd minute through Ronaldkydon, who struck a difficult high ball cleanly and sent it flying into the net.

Rangdajied regained control after the interval and created several chances. Gideon headed over, while Ejingmut fired wide.

Ronaldkydon appeared to have put Nangkiew ahead in the 71st minute, but his well-struck effort took a slight deflection off a Rangdajied defender and went out for a corner.

Rangdajied eventually found the winner in the 81st minute when Micky Marwein produced a clean finish from the left side of the box, sending the ball into the opposite corner.

The win further strengthens Rangdajied’s position in the tightly packed middle of the SPL standings.

On Friday, ninth-placed Laitkor will face fourth-placed Sawmer at 3pm. Laitkor will be looking for a crucial victory as they attempt to improve their position and stay clear of the relegation battle.
