Shillong, April 6: Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Smti. Roshan Warjri on Thursday inaugurated the year long platinum jubilee celebration of St.Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Jaiaw.
Addressing the gathering, the health and family welfare minister lauded the school for its tireless contribution in educating the society and for producing prominent personalities.
Warjri pointed out that St.Joseph school, Jaiaw has been imparting quality education since the time when the society needed it the most and is still continuing in it’s endeavour to do so.
“ It has helped build the society based on knowledge and character – the all round development which every child needs,” she added.
As part of the opening ceremony celebration of their 75year long journey, programme includes hoisting of flag by the Health and Family Welfare, minister as the chief guest followed by a prayer dance, colourful cultural programme, rhythmic drill and action song performed by the students as part of the celebration.
It may be recalled that the school was established in 1943, in a small cottage at jaiaw, with only six girls and gradually within a year a number of 120 students were enrolled. St.Joseph’s Higher Secondary School is serving better human formation and quality education.
The celebration was attended by Jaiaw MDC Adelbert Nongrum as the guest of honour, Headman of Jaiaw, the alumini besides the present teacher’s students and well wishers.
