Shillong, April 6: The Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM) Shillong yesterday held its 8th convocation.
Altogether, 159 students of the post-graduate diploma in management program of the batch 2015-2017 received their certificates including those in absentia.
In addition, 15 students of the executive post-graduate diploma in managing business in India and China program for the year 2015 -16 also received their passing out diploma, in the presence of board members of RGIIM, parents, faculty members, officers and staff of the institute.
Apart from receiving their diplomas, there were also medal winners from among the students.
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) president, Dr Naushad Forbes delivered the convocation address in the presence of Dean of Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, New York, USA, Prof. Soumitra Dutta and other dignitaries.
Dr Forbes called for investments by industries in skills and in improving quality of school and college education to bring opportunity to as many as possible to the 1.3 billion people and urged the passed out students to make a difference by making Indian industry more ethical, international and more technology-focused and inclusive.
Prof Dutta, De and Rajkumar also delivered their address on the occasion.
