Shillong,May 22: The Office of the Chief Executive Officer, Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) organised a one-day State Level Workshop on MHIS Phase –III at Yojana Bhawan Auditorium, Meghalaya Main Secretariat in the city on Monday.
The inaugural programme of the workshop was attended by Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, Smt. Roshan Warjri as Chief Guest in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri. Y.Tsering, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department & CEO, MHIS, Shri.H.M Shangpliang, Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr.Pooja Pandey, Deputy Commissioners, DHS (MI), Dr. R.O Budnah, DHS (Research) Dr. M. Nonghuloo,DHS (MCH&FW), Dr.D.Lyngdoh, DMHOs, Government officials and functionaries from various Districts and Sub-Divisions, Doctors, representatives from Insurance Companies and others.
During her address at the inaugural function, Smt. Roshan Warjri congratulated all stakeholders involved in the implementation of phases I and II of the MHIS further stating that the Workshop is the right platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences which may be incorporated in the implementation of the third phase of the MHIS.
Highlighting on the challenges that require attention in order to be able to implement the Scheme efficiently and successfully, the Minister spoke of the need to set up Help Desks at all empanelled hospitals to assist smart card holders. She also stated that more awareness needs to be created at the grassroots level, especially those in the remotest parts of the State to facilitate their enrolment in the scheme since “uplifting the socio-economic condition of the people involves improvement of their health condition”, she added.
Smt.Warjri on the occasion also stressed on the need for more Training and Capacity Building programmes and sought the co-operation and co-ordination of all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Scheme while also expressing hope that the intended target of achieving maximum coverage would be achieved.
During the programme, the Minister also launched the Website of the MHIS and handed over awards as a mark of recognition to the exemplary efforts at implementing the previous phase, namely Phase-II of the MHIS by concerned stakeholders at various levels.
Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Health and Family Welfare Department, Shri. Y.Tsering in his address spoke of the need to widen the coverage under the Scheme, especially to the far flung rural areas of the State who require most attention.
Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department & CEO, MHIS, Shri.H.M Shangpliang meanwhile informed that the enrolment process for Phase-III of the MHIS would commence from the first week of June onwards across the State.
The inaugural function was followed by presentations on various aspects of the MHIS including Claims Monitoring, Medical Records Maintenance and Fund Utilization etc. (MIPR)
