UGC shut down two University in Meghalaya

Shillong, March 27: During last three years University Grant Commission had shutdown two University in Meghalaya. CMJ University and EILM University in Meghalaya were closed while relocating the students. Both the University have been permitted to give regular courses in their campuses earlier.

Human Resource Development (HRD) Mahendra Nath Pandey replying to the question hour in Lok Sabha today said   “The CMJ University was dissolved by the state government of Meghalaya after complaints were received against the varsity,” 

While continuing he also added that the varsities were against the state government’s decision and had approached the Meghalaya High Court, which had in turn, ordered its dissolution due to legal technicalities. The Meghalaya government then approached the Supreme court and the matter was subjudiced.

EILM University was dissolved by the Meghalaya State since December 2014 citing the reason  of its non- functionality since then.
