Shillong, August 4: Valley View Secondary School honoured its young judokas on Tuesday following their outstanding performance at the Inter-School East Khasi Hills District Judo Championship 2026, where the school finished as the Overall First Runners-up with an impressive haul of 23 medals.

The felicitation ceremony, held on the school campus, was attended by Principal E. Phira, Assistant Principal A. Warjri, Judo Teacher Phiyona Nongbet, Coach Gibil G. Momin, along with teachers and students.

Congratulating the athletes, Assistant Principal A. Warjri lauded their dedication, discipline and perseverance, describing the achievement as a proud moment for the school. The medal winners were greeted with enthusiastic applause from fellow students during the programme.

The championship, organised by the East Khasi Hills Judo Association, took place at Mawpat Multipurpose Hall from July 31 to August 1, bringing together some of the district’s most promising young judokas.

Valley View delivered one of its best performances in recent years, securing 23 medals, including five gold, seven silver and eleven bronze, underlining the school’s growing reputation as a strong contender in school-level judo.
