Victims of tree falling incident laid to rest, Govt announces ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh

Shillong,Aug. 14: Three persons who died on Saturday when a massive tree crushed the vehicles they were travelling in near Raj Bhavan, were laid to rest on Monday.

Amid tearful adieu, thousands joined the bereaved families in paying their last tribute along with prayers during the funeral of Crystal Gayle Kharnaior (23) daughter of city based artist, Raphael Warjri of Mawlai Nongkwar Block-V, Paul L.B. Lyngdoh (70), and taxi driver, Hubert Swer (35) of Mawprem in paying their last tribute along with prayers during the funeral service.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.

The district administration will also reimburse expenditures incurred during the treatment of the two inured persons, Wannysha Ksoo (27) and Newmemorial Wahlang (51).
