Shillong, Sept 12: A woman died on the spot while two others were critically injured when a Maruti Eco van dashed against a roadside shop near military hospital in the city here on Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at around 10.50 am when the Eco Van (ML 05-D-6195) driven by Santosh Biswa (40) proceeding towards civil point on crossing MES point went off the road and rammed over a rock and a roadside shop, police said.

In the process, the vehicle hit the shop owner identified as Pinky Begum (22), who died on the spot, while her four-year-old son and one pedestrian Vikash Nath sustained injury on the legs.

The injured persons were immediately shifted to NEIGRIHMS for treatment.
