Shillong, July 20: The non-release of adhoc installment by the Centre government led to the delay by the Meghalaya government to release the pending salary for the current academic year to SSA teachers in the state.

Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui informed on Friday that the delegation of Meghalaya Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Schools Association (MSSASA) had met him recently and discussed the matter with them.

MSSASA president Aristotle C Rymbai said in a statement issued on Friday that the Education Minister had informed that the delay was due to non-release of the adhoc installment to the state government by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).

In the memorandum submitted to the Minister, the MSSASA urged the state government to consider allocation of funds from the state budget for payment of the pending three months salary for the current academic year and eight months arrear salary of financial year 2016-17.

At the same time, the minister informed that as per his conversation with the Chief Minister who is in New Delhi, the state government has been trying to get the funds released by the MHRD in the next few weeks.

The association has also sought the intervention of the state government into the problems faced by the first batch (2013-15) and second batch (2015-17) teachers who had undergone the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Programme in the state.

The minister has also assured to look into the matter.
