It may be mention that NRC draft list in Assam on July 30 had already put Meghalaya and all neighbouring north-eastern states over the likely influx into the states.
As a result, demands for ILP and NRC exercises to control illegal influx by the prominent student bodies across North-east India have raised.
Meanwhile, The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) two days before also submitted a proposal to Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, suggesting the government to adopt a similar kind of exercise like the NRC even in Meghalaya.
