Shillong, Jun 17: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has ruled out rolling back the decision to re-open Ïewduh.

Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board (MSPB) and Nongkrem legislator, Lambor Malngiang has requested the state government to re-consider its decision in view of the COVID-19 situation.

“He (Malngiang) has written to the Chief Minister but the question of rolling back the decision does not arise,” Tynsong told reporters.

He said the decision to re-open shops at Ïewduh on rotation basis was taken after conducting a joint inspection on Tuesday.

“The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi HIlls has been asked to workout the modalities for re-opening of Ïewduh,” he added.

Tynsong also informed that out of 5,000 shops in Iewduh, only 1,222 shops will be allowed to open but on rotational basis.

“And of these, only 400 shops will be permitted to open in a day. So, we request the MLAs not to get confused as the decision was taken after due consultations,” he added.
