SHILLONG, APR 14: The state police have recovered a stolen .303 rifle and arrested three suspects in connection with the theft.
Informing this on Tuesday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said, “The rifle was reported missing from the MCCL Factory store room on April 11, and we lodged an FIR. After investigation, we picked up two suspects, Shaiborlang Jyrwa and Sawbor Sooting, who led us to the recovery of the rifle.”
The rifle, bearing number 3709740, was recovered from the house of Alpha Mary Jyrwa, grandmother of Shaiborlang Jyrwa, at Mawkisyiem, Sohra.
A third suspect, Teilang Sohkhia, was also arrested later.
“The accused have admitted to stealing the rifle and hiding it in the house. We have seized the rifle and will produce the accused in court tomorrow,” Syiem added.
