SHILLONG, APR 16: The state cabinet has cleared a minor amendment to the Meghalaya Real Estate (Regulation and Development) (General) Rules, 2020, to bring the remuneration of the chairman and members in line with other government agencies.
After chairing the meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the change was made to ensure uniformity across boards and agencies.
“Under this there were certain provisions regarding the remuneration of the chairman as the members, which were not consistent with other agencies of the government of Meghalaya,” he explained.
“Hence to ensure that there is a uniformity, we have changed the provisions and made it same and uniform as per other agencies, which is that remuneration will be normally based on last pay drawn minus pension,” the Chief Minister added.
He noted that the earlier structure was inconsistent with prevailing norms.
“So earlier it was a set amount that was given to the chairman and it was not consistent with other agencies and other boards. Hence, we change that and we put the same remuneration policy as per others, which is that the chairman will receive last pay minus pension,” he stated.
