SHILLONG, APR 18: In a significant political development, the BJP East Khasi Hills District organised a mass joining programme at Nongdawah, Mawryngkneng on Saturday, with hundreds of leaders and members from various political parties and organisations inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The programme was held under the leadership of District President Priambada Blah and senior party leader Dhosing Mukhim.

Senior party leaders present included State Vice President Khrawboklang Basaiawmoit, State Executive Member David Kharsati, State Yuva Morcha President Mewaker Lyngdoh, and other prominent party functionaries.

On the occasion, the District President also felicitated newly elected Mandal President Rimanbha Mukhim and extended her best wishes for his leadership and responsibilities.

Addressing the gathering, Priambada Blah said the growing support for the BJP in constituencies like Mawryngkneng “reflects the increasing acceptance of the party in rural areas, where its presence had traditionally been limited compared to urban regions.”

She emphasized that the expansion of the BJP signifies broader development and progress for the state.

Blah noted that “several prominent individuals have expressed interest in contesting from the Mawryngkneng constituency, indicating rising confidence in the party’s vision and leadership.”

Underscoring the work of party cadres, she said leaders have often travelled long distances — “sometimes over three hours — to connect with even a single party worker in remote areas.”

She credited the sustained efforts of senior leaders and grassroots workers for strengthening the party’s base.

“With continued commitment and collective effort, the BJP is poised for greater success and remains hopeful of leading the government in 2028,” Blah added.
