SHILLONG, APR 30: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bengaluru Unit has urged authorities to ensure a fair and thorough investigation into the death of Agatha Ba Ithianghun Khongwet, who was found dead in her rented accommodation in Hebbal on Wednesday evening.

Khongwet, a resident of Tangmang village in Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, was discovered dead between 7 pm and 7.30 pm, the Union said.

“The Khasi Students’ Union Bengaluru Unit expresses deep condolences on the untimely demise of Agatha Ba Ithianghun Khongwet, a resident of Tangmang village, Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya,” the KSU said in a statement on Thursday.

She was reportedly living in a relationship with her alleged boyfriend, identified as Nawaz Sharif from Manipur, in the Hebbal rented room where she was found, the Union stated.

On the cause of death, the KSU noted, “The case is currently under investigation and is suspected to be a case of suicide / murder however, other possibilities have not been ruled out.”

The Union said its members reached the spot soon after the incident. “Members of the KSU Bengaluru Unit were present yesterday, along with her friends, and extended necessary support,” the statement read.

Extending solidarity to the family, the Union added, “The Union stands in solidarity with the bereaved family.”

“The Union urges the authorities to conduct a fair and thorough investigation,” it said.
