Nongpoh, June 3: The third edition of the Western Ri Bhoi Cricket Association (WRBCA) T20 Tournament 2026 concluded on Tuesday, marking the association’s 10th year of formation with the successful hosting of the sporting event.

A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament, which witnessed competitive matches throughout the season. The final was played between defending champions Rani Jirang Police Outpost Cricket Team and Umsaw Cricket Club.

In the summit clash, Rani Jirang Police Outpost Cricket Team, opting to bat first, were restricted to 99 runs after losing all their wickets. In reply, Umsaw Cricket Club chased down the target successfully, scoring 102 runs in 16 overs to claim the championship title.

With the victory, Umsaw Cricket Club lifted the trophy along with a cash prize of ₹20,000, while Rani Jirang Police Outpost Cricket Team, the runners-up, received ₹10,000 along with the runner-up trophy.

The closing ceremony was attended by WRBCA officials and dignitaries, including Bah Pyndaplang Wahlang, who formally declared the tournament closed. He was joined by JD Shira, officer from Patharkhmah Police Station, and several leaders from the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), including Bah Riplos Nongtri and Bah Balawan Syiemiong, along with WRBCA President Bah Pynskhem Thangkhiew, Secretary Bah Remington Syngkli, and other members.

Organisers said the tournament aimed to promote cricket at the grassroots level and encourage youth participation in sports across Ri Bhoi district.
