Email :1

Shillong, October 31: A delegation of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Central Executive Council (CEC), is scheduled to meet Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda in New Delhi on Saturday to raise concerns regarding the functioning of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).

The delegation is being led by KSU CEC president Raymond Kharjana and includes general secretary Reuben Najiar, assistant general secretary Pynshaiborlang Rani and assistant finance secretary Hopefullborn L. Mawnai.

The proposed meeting is expected to provide the union an opportunity to present its concerns directly to the Union minister and seek the ministry’s intervention on matters relating to the Shillong-based medical institute.

NEIGRIHMS plays an important role in providing healthcare services to patients from Meghalaya and other Northeastern states, besides offering medical education and training. Issues concerning the institute are therefore significant for patients, students and local job seekers.

However, the union has not yet disclosed the specific agenda or demands that the delegation intends to place before Nadda.
