Shillong, November 8: Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, has arrived in Shillong to participate in the annual Eucharistic procession of the Archdiocese of Shillong, scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 8, at Laitumkhrah.

Cardinal Ferrão will preside over the Holy Mass at 10 am at Kalbari, accompanied by Archbishop of Shillong Victor Lyngdoh and Auxiliary Bishop Bernard Laloo. The Eucharistic procession, organised by the Cathedral Parish of Mary Help of Christians, will follow at 1 pm.

Catholic faithful from across the Khasi and Jaintia Hills are expected to attend the celebration, which will centre on thanksgiving and devotion to Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

This year’s theme draws inspiration from the Gospel according to Matthew, inviting the faithful to reflect on how the Eucharist strengthens them to live as the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Parishioners from the CMCs and blocks of Laitumkhrah Parish, along with religious sisters, have been making preparations for the procession by decorating the route with flowers, flags and sacred images.

Cardinal Ferrão also serves as president of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI).
