Shillong, Apr 20: Meghalaya Education minister, Lahkmen Rymbui informed the Assembly that around 9,000 students in the state are yet to receive the post matric scholarship.
Replying to a query raised by Congress MLA from East Shillong Ampareen Lyngdoh, Rymbui said that the reasons are due to some students had applied multiple times, and some have failed to provideIFSC code and correct bank account number.
“This was detected through the online application,†he said while informing that there was no complaint on the non-receiving of scholarship by the department.
The minister further informed that a total of 54,899 students have benefited from this scheme in the last academic session. This was out of the 68,076 applications, he said.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh urged the education department to ensure educational institutions should assist the students for applying the scholarship so that they do not have to line up at the cyber cafes.
