Shillong, June 27: The Lympung Ki Hynriew Shnong, a conglomerate of six Dorbar Shnongs in the City have extended full support to the High Level Committee constituted by the MDA government to find permanent solution to the problem at Them ïew Mawlong.

This decision was taken at a general meeting of the six Dorbar Shnongs held at Umsohsun Community Hall recently. These include Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Wahthapbru, Mission Compound, Riatsamthiah and Wahingdoh – which were among the 14 localities affected by the recent clash between angry mob and security forces.

The resolution adopted by the meeting was also submitted by a delegation of The Lympung Ki Hynriew Shnong to Deputy Chief Minister and chairman of the high level committee Prestone Tynsong here on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters, headman of Mission Compound GS Basan said, “We from the six dorbar shnongs extend our full support to the high level committee for coming up with a permanent solution on the issue.”

He said this is because the aspiration of majority of the people is to decongest Them ïew Mawlong in view of the problem being faced by the entire city in general.

At the same time, Basan said that the delegation also expressed its opposition against the interference of people from outside the state into the issue.

Assistant headman of Wahingdoh, R.S. Marbaniang on the other hand said that the inflammatory statements given by the visiting organizations from outside state only shows their intent is nothing but to tarnish the image of the state and its people.

“We have also reminded the DC that since the section 144 CrPC has been promulgated in these areas, such organizations from outside the state should refrain from extending relief materials without the knowledge of the district administration,” he said.
