Shillong, Apr 21: A brilliant bowling performance by Aniesha Arengh (7/13) guided Meghalaya to a convincing 6-wicket victory over Sikkim in the 2nd North East Rising Cup 2026 for U-15 girls in Guwahati today.

After losing the toss, Sikkim were put in to bat and struggled against a disciplined Meghalaya attack. They were bundled out for just 59 runs in 18.2 overs, well short of the allotted 35 overs. Arengh was the standout performer, dismantling the batting lineup with her exceptional spell. She was ably supported by Badphihirta Nonglait (1/5), Laviola Mary L Mawlong (1/14) and Onasa M Sangma (1/16).

In reply, Meghalaya chased down the modest target comfortably, reaching the total in 14.1 overs while losing four wickets. Mebalapynkmen Syiemlieh top-scored with 14 runs in a steady chase.

The Meghalaya team also paid tribute to the late Dister Marbaniang by wearing black armbands during the match. Marbaniang, who passed away last week, was the President of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association and had previously served as manager for several MCA teams.

The tournament, organised by the Assam Cricket Association, aims to promote grassroots women’s cricket across the North East region.
