Langsning Edge Lawbah in Eight-Goal Thriller; Mixed Results Across MSL

Shillong, Apr 21: Langsning FC were pushed to the limit by Lawbah SC but emerged 5-3 winners in a thrilling Group F encounter of the 5th Meghalaya State League at Mairang today.

Nelson Rymbai starred for Langsning with a hat-trick (7’, 10’, 88’), continuing his habit of early strikes by scoring twice within the opening 10 minutes. Lawbah, however, matched the intensity, with Adonydevy Riwan netting a hat-trick of his own (19’, 45’+1, 89’) in a spirited but ultimately unsuccessful effort. Dajiedlang Wanshnong (33’) and Chusrang Sangma (42’) added to Langsning’s tally in a high-octane contest.

In Shillong, Khimusniang SC came from behind to defeat Mawshun SCC 3-1 in a Group A clash at the SSA Stadium. Arkhangel Khongtyngkut (31’) had given Mawshun the lead, but Khimusniang responded almost immediately through Civility Khongmalai (33’). Primrose Lamat (65’) and Lamborki Lyngdoh (74’) then completed the comeback.

At the MFA Ground, Mawlum Tyrsad SCC secured a 4-2 victory over Mulang SC Nongbah in Group B. Mawlum raced to a 3-0 lead inside 22 minutes through Banshem Khongsit (5’), Marcellino Khongsit (11’) and Pyndapborlang Khongsit (22’, pen). Mulang fought back with an own goal by Bansamlang Nongbet (44’) and a strike from Woldrik Susngi (46’), but Ebetstar Nongbet (88’) sealed the win for Mawlum late on.

In Williamnagar, Maram FC’s winning run came to an end as they were beaten 3-0 by Janepih YSCA in Group G. Goals from Edyson Iawphniaw (26’), Alphascius Sangriang (30’) and Wankuparlang Khardiengngan (65’) ensured victory for Janepih, who extended their own winning streak.

Mawten SC registered a 3-1 win over Mawlarshong SC in Group H at Mawkyrwat. Charles Lyngdoh (3’) scored one of the fastest goals of the season, while Oversharp Iawphniaw (57’) and Debenroy Thongnibah (90’+4) added to the scoreline. Hopefullness Wanniang (82’) netted a late consolation for Mawlarshong.

Elsewhere, two matches ended in goalless draws — the first of the season. Amlarem SC and Laskein SCSC shared the spoils in Group C at Amlarem, while the eagerly anticipated Group D derby between Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC and Thangskai Tiger SC at Khliehriat also finished 0-0.

Only one match is scheduled for tomorrow, with Attong Matgrik FC set to face Balmanduri FC in Group G at Williamnagar. Kick-off is at 3pm.
