Archbishop Dominic Jala mortal remains will arrive in New Delhi on Sunday at 5.30 am

Shillong, Oct 19: The body of Archbishop Dominic Jala is scheduled to arrive from San Francisco, USA in New Delhi on Sunday at 5.30 am.

The mortal remains will arrive from New Delhi at the Guwahati airport at 2.45 pm.

From the airport, it will be taken to the Salesian Provincial House, Guwahati. Priests of the Salesian of Don Bosco (SDB) will carry the body from the Provincial House to St Joseph’s Co-Cathedral Church and the Requiem Mass will begin as soon as the body is brought from the Provincial House.

Archbishop of Guwahati Archdiocese, Rev John Moolachira will preside over the Requiem Mass.

Archbishop Jala was the Provincial of Salesian of Don Bosco, Guwahati in the past years.

After the Holy Mass, the mortal remains of the Archbishop will be taken to Shillong.

Catholic faithful from Byrnihat Parish will assemble to receive the body of the Archbishop at Jorabat and accompany the cortege to the Parish.

Faithful from Nongpoh Parish, will assemble at Byrnihat Parish and accompany the cortege to Nongpoh Parish. For the faithful of Umsning Parish, they will assemble at Nongpoh Parish and accompany the cortege to Umsning Parish.

The faithful of Mawlai Parish will assemble at Umïam and accompany the cortege to St. Dominic Savio Church Mawlai Parish.

On reaching Mawlai Mawïong, the cortege will take the Mawlai bypass route and the faithful and others will stand on the road to pay their respect to the Archbishop at Umjaraiñ, Mawkynroh, Umshing, Kynton Massar, Mawdatbaki, Stand Bus and Phudmuri.

The faithfuls will hold lighted candles, besides flags, flexes and posters as a mark of respect to the Archbishop, besides praying and singing hyms of praise as they stand on the road to have a glimpse of the cortege.

The mortal remains of the Archbishop will be kept in his parental home at Mawlai Phudmuri for the night on Sunday.

The Parish Pastoral Council of St Dominic Savio Church Mawlai Parish has decided to observe a vigil in prayer at the parental home of the Archbishop which will begin by CMC Phudmuri from 12 am to 1 am, to followed by CMC Laitlum (1 am to 1.30 am), CMC Mawlai Mawdatbaki (1.30 am to 2 am), Brothers Sacred Theological College, Mawlai (2 am to 3 am), CMC Mawtawar from 3 am to 3.30 am, CMC Kynton Massar from 3.30 am to 4 am, Prayer Group Mawlai Parish from 4 am to 5 am, Sacred Heart Convent Mawlai from 5 am to 6 am.

From October 21 till the funeral on October 23, the mortal remains will be kept in the Cathedral Church for faithfuls to pay their homage.

Protem Chancellor of Shillong Archdiocese, Fr Jimmy Marngar informed that those who want to see and pay their last respect to Archbishop Jala on the funeral day, will be allowed only upto 12 noon.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday, October 23 at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah, Shillong at 1 pm.
