Shillong,May 16: Former minister and BJP leader JA Lyngdoh on Tuesday denied making any accusation against a youth, who had lodged an FIR against him yesterday.
One Tony Marbaniang, who is also a member of the BJP, had filed the FIR against the party vice president with the Sadar Police Station citing that he had accused him of contesting the election for money.
“I am not so cheap (to make such allegations) as I have never done such thing in my entire political career because if somebody wants to contest the elections, they have every right to,” Lyngdoh told reporters at a press conference held here.
Marbaniang had earlier announced his decision to contest from North Shillong Constituency on a BJP ticket.
Stating that the youth is not known to him even if he claimed to be a member of the party, Lyngdoh however said that so far, it was only him who is in the fray for the party ticket to contest from North Shillong.
“Both the state and district leaders had also announced this in a recently held meeting,” he claimed.
Reacting to a query, Lyngdoh informed that the legal cell of the BJP will take up the matter in as far as the FIR filed against him is concerned.
