Shillong, Mar 14: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday held a review meeting in connection with the preparation of the state for the National Games 2022 to be hosted by Meghalaya.
Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh, Additional Chief Secretary, P.W. Ingty, Sports and Youth Affairs Director, Matsiewdor War Nongbri and other senior officials attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the officials briefed the Chief Minister on the formation of different committees, as well as steps to be taken to start the process of hosting the National Games in the State.
This was the first meeting that discussed about the preparedness of the state to host the mega sporting event after the new Chief Minister assumed office.
The meeting assumed significance as the ball for hosting the upcoming National Games was set rolling by the State government. The thrust of the government to upgrade sports facilities in Meghalaya was elaborately discussed, as the National Games will put Meghalaya on the national limelight.
An elaborate discussion on upgradation of sporting infrastructure and facilities including stadiums, logistics, accommodation and air connectivity were also taken up during the review meeting.
