Urban Affairs Minister asks BSNL to put up more counters for MNP

Shillong, Mar 14: Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling has asked the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to set up additional counters in different places to help affected mobile users change their mobile number under Mobile Number Portability (MNP) following the sudden shutdown of Aircel in the state.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Dohling said, “I have asked the BSNL General Manager P.G. Nirmal to consider putting up additional counters to facilitate affected mobile users for porting their number.”

He said that the sudden shutting down of Aircel in the state has affected mobile users especially in rural areas.

Dohling said that Aircel staffs were also asked to help mobile users in getting the porting code at the earliest.

“If they (Aircel) are quick in closing down without any notice, they should be also quick in helping affected customers to port their number to other services,” the minister said.

Informing that the BSNL authority has assured all possible help to mobile users, the minister also said that the company was also asked to address the problem of call drop.
