Shillong, Mar 7: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday reviewed the financial status of the state with officials from the Finance Department and assured of coming up with a budget that will be the best for the state.
“We will try to come up with whatever is best for the state,†Conrad told reporters after chairing the first cabinet meeting at the main secretariat.
According to the Chief Minister, the Budget is something which will have to be prepared for the whole year and it cannot be a piece meal budget.
He said that a Vote on Account would be passed in the upcoming budget session of the Assembly.
During the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary, Y Tsering briefed the ministers on basic issues, programmes and schemes being implemented by the government.
Admitting that the state is facing challenges when it comes to execution of projects, he said, there is support from different Central government agencies to help development process come to the state.
The Chief Minister also maintained that the present government would examine the flagship programmes like IBDLP initiated by the previous Congress-led government and accordingly decide what is best for the state.
“I want our government to be a positive-thinking government. We are not here to criticize anybody and if there is something good that the past government had done, we will look into and try to further improve it. It will be the duty of the present government to continue on something good, try to change on what is fault and improve on something bad,†he said.
