Stating the Congress as the word suggests mean people coming together, he said, “Congress is for heterogeneous plural culture which is true to Meghalaya but BJP believes in a uniform culture and in their case is the half pant uniform from Nagpur.â€
Gogoi also claimed that the Congress is known for ensuring peace, bringing everyone in the same platform, allowing every community to have its own voice, its own political representative and own platform to expressed their culture.
“I think the culture of Meghalaya is far more beautiful and people of Meghalaya can teach the RSS one or two things about India,†he said.
The BJP in its recent chargesheet had accused the Congress of failing to provide jobs to the people of the state besides development.
Asked, the Congres leader claimed that after Assam, Meghalaya is the second state in terms of job creation.
Stating that in the NE government jobs are quite a big source of employment both state and central, he however said but at the central, it was seen UPSC job recruitments is far less this year.
He expressed amused how BJP is talking about creating jobs when its Prime Minister failed to keep his promise made of creating 2 crore jobs per year and target to train 40 crore young Indianns by 2022.
“Their own start-up India had seen only 77 applications. So I find it quite amusing and I hope BJP continues to talk about jobs as it will remind the people of Meghalaya as to what happen to the 2 crore jobs per year,†he added.
