Shillong, April 21: The annual athletic meet 2017 organised by the District Sports officer East Khasi Hills District that saw a participation by 37 schools concluded on Thursday at J.N Stadium Polo.
Deputy Director Sports & Youth Affairs Clive W. Dunai was the chief guest on the concluding day in the present of sports officer, other dignitaries as well. Speaking in the occasion Dunai lauded the Department of Sport and Youth affairs through District Sports Officer that continues to enrich students encourage and strengthen the school children through sports, to assure them independence and to enable them better to fill in the educational role.
An active and continued participation in sports and athletics would pay you rich dividends in terms of fitness, well-being, and happiness, he further added.
St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School excel as team champions in different categories in both the boys of under-14 and under-16 category respectively while St Mary’s Higher Secondary bagged the team trophy in the girl above-16 category and under-14 category. Loreto Convent bagged the team trophy in the girl under-16 category. In girl’s category St Mary’s Higher Secondary bagged the leading school in above-16 category and under-14 category.
Other trophies include best athlete in different categories. The best athlete of under-14 girls is bagged by Iba-I-Hun Kurbah of Stephan Memorial Secondary School and Eishun V. Pdein of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School in under-14 boys while Migma L. Lyngdoh of St Mary’s Higher Secondary School bagged best athlete in girls’ under-16 category and Nelson Nigel Laloo of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School for boys’ under-16 category.
An above-16 category girl is bagged by Eliana Lamare ka St Mary’s Higher Secondary School and Emphius Nongrum ka Christian Academy Higher Secondary School for above-16 category boys.
