Shillong,May 15: A former leader of the Hynniewtrep National People’s Movement (HNPM) today lodged a police complaint against a BJP top leader, who was alleged of making false accusations against the former.
Twenty-five-year-old Tony Marbaniang filed an FIR against the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) JA Lyngdoh with the Sadar Police Station.
Lyngdoh, who is also a former minister of the state, was alleged to have leveled false accusations against Marbaniang at a meeting held on Sunday.
It may be mentioned here, Lyngdoh and Marbaniang have announced their decisions to contest the 2018 MLA general election from North Shillong, the home constituency of the State Health Minister Roshan Warjri.
However, interestingly both are from the BJP party.
Speaking to reporters after filing the FIR, Marbaniang alleged that the former minister had accused him of intending to fight the elections for the sake of money and that he is not a member of the BJP party.
“Such accusations are false and are only targeted to defame and tarnish my image as a youth,” he said.
Earlier, the police had also taken the statement of Marbaniang even as sources informed that the statement of the former minister would also be taken before the matter is forwarded to the Court.
