Shillong,May 15: The Nongkrem Block Congress Committee (NBCC) today held its executive committee meeting at Smit village, to discuss on the party’s preparation for the 2018 general elections in the state.
NBCC president John F Kharshiing informed that the meeting has unanimously resolved to urge the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) to ensure that effective candidates are given tickets.
“The MPCC is also urged to accordingly announce the names of the candidates early so as to provide the candidates with enough time to prepare their organizational support,” he said.
The meeting also decided to conduct meetings in all its units to strengthen and mobilize the Nongkrem Block Congress party members for the 2018 elections.
He informed that the members have also expressed their views on the political aspects prevailing in the state and felt that it was only the Congress party which has ensured stable government and development in the state.
The members also recalled the past experience of having instability due to intense power struggle among the regional parties whenever they have been in power leading to frequent change in governments which hampered governance, he said.
The NBCC further decided to urge the Government to expedite the rolling out of the MHIS Phase -III, which has resulted in immense support to the people of the state in terms of providing effective universal health care.
