Former leaders of Pynursla BCC will decide soon where to go

Shillong, Sept 5: Former leaders of the Pynursla Block Congress Committee (PBCC) on Tuesday asked the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) not to estimate them, as they termed the decision to dissolve the block as “indiscipline and inhuman.”

Leaders and members from 54 polling booths of Pynursla Assembly constituency, who met at Shillong Club here, have decided to convene a general meeting soon and take a call together against the MPCC that unilaterally dissolved the block without any rhyme or reason, and without consulting them.

PBCC former President, Emlynstone Khongsti told reporters that the block was dissolved overnight by the MPCC and replace him with Hanbor Khongtani as the new president of the PBCC.

“This decision of the MPCC has hurt the sentiments of all Congress supporters and we felt like crying. Such a decision is indiscipline and inhumane since they have dissolved the block without taking the supporters at the grass root level into consideration. We have not done any anti-party activities. Infact, we have been working hard to strengthen the party in our area,” Khongsti said.

Meanwhile General Secretary of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) Banangsan Tynsong, and President of Pynursla Assembly Youth Congress, Basebon Rangjem have announced their resignation from the post, as a mark of protest against the decision of the MPCC to dissolve the block.

Pynursla Constituency is being represented by senior Congress MLA, Prestone Tynsong, who was dropped from the Cabinet last month by Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma.

To a question if Prestone would follow them or they would follow him, the former Congress leaders said that since the MLA is out of station, they would decide together before taking future course of action.

With Tynsong as MLA, the Pynursla BCC had earlier enrolled around 8000 members, and has more than 12,000 supporters in the last 2013 Assembly election.
