HYC activists begin 93 km walk from Nongstoiñ over ILP demand

Shillong, Aug 22: The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) on Tuesday began their march on foot from Nongstoiñ to Shillong demanding from the State government to implement Inner Line Permit to check influx.
The march on foot began at 7 am from Nongstoiñ. It will cover a distance of 93km till the state capital, Shillong. The march was undertaken by 70 activists of HYC Nongstoiñ Circle.
The HYC activists undertook the march amid inclement weather. It will take atleast three days to complete the 93 km march from Nongstoiñ, the district headquarter of West Hills district to Shillong.
The HYC has been demanding the implementation of ILP and condemned the Mukul Sangma-led government for refusing to discuss the 14-point of demands in connection with the implementation of various anti-influx laws including ILP system.
