Shillong, Apr 25: Keri G Momin produced a remarkable individual performance, scoring seven goals to power A’chik SCO Rongjeng to a commanding 9-0 victory over Balmanduri FC in a Group G encounter of the 5th Meghalaya State League in Williamnagar on Saturday.
The 18-year-old’s seven-goal haul is the highest by any player in a single match this season and marked his first goals of the campaign. He struck in the 18th, 20th, 24th, 48th, 71st, 81st and 84th minutes. Cherryan G Momin (58’) and Junjun N Marak (90’) added to the tally as Rongjeng secured one of the most dominant wins of the tournament so far.
In Group H, Seng Samla Umdang Pyllun staged a strong comeback to edge Mawten SC 4-3 in Mawkyrwat. Bishalboklang Rongrin (29’, 71’) and Rangkynsaistar Mawsor (56’, 67’) scored two goals each for the winners. Mawten had earlier taken the lead twice through Wellberjune Lyngdoh (16’) and Kynshewbor Pyngrope (54’), while Oversharp Iawphniaw (85’) added a late goal. Rangkynsaistar has now scored in all three matches for his side.
Amlarem SC also came from behind to defeat Lamin XI SCC 4-2 in Group C. After Sanu Sumer (5’) gave Lamin XI an early lead, Wantiwjune Buam (32’) equalised. Genial Lamin (46’) restored the advantage early in the second half, but Amlarem responded decisively with goals from Martial Nongrum (65’), Iaid Da Kyrmen Jungai (65’) and Wantiwjune (77’).
Mawphu SC registered a comfortable 4-0 win over Mulang SC Nongbah in Group B at the MFA Ground in Shillong. Owenderson Nongrud opened the scoring in just the second minute—the fastest goal of the season—before Steven Kynta (42’), Ferenstar Kharkongor (45’) and Archeststar Malngiang (73’) added further goals.
In Group E at Wahiajer, Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC defeated Iatyllilang Lumsehkot CSC 4-0, with Rio Marboh scoring a hat-trick (9’, 70’, 90’+5). Deibanskhem Kharsati (32’) contributed the other goal.
Closer contests were witnessed in Khliehriat and Mairang. Thangskai Tiger SC edged Jalaphet Moochut Pyrdung SC 1-0 in Group D, with Michael Siangshai scoring in the 26th minute shortly after being booked.
In Group F, Mishon SSCC bounced back from two defeats to beat Lawbah SC 2-0 in Mairang, courtesy of late goals from Pyndapboklang L Lyngkhoi (74’) and Rikyrshan Warjri (86’).
The latest round of fixtures marks the halfway stage in six of the eight groups. The second leg is scheduled to begin on Monday, except in Wahiajer and Williamnagar where first-leg matches are still underway.
