Shillong, Jan 3: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) leader, Adelbert Nongrum who is also its candidate from North Shillong seat urged the people to support him in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Nongrum who represents Jaïaw constituency to the KHADC, said that he has not changed his principle or defected to other political parties in his political career.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Nongrum said, “I have not changed my principle or defect to another party, but to do not only good, but right thing especially to fight for our survival and overall development without compromising our rights. My ambition is not just only to win election, but to perform without neglecting the duties.â€
“I am so thankful that in schedule areas, I was leading in the last election. In non-schedule areas, people have also voted for me, which shows that they are not refusing me,†he said.
Nongrum had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Assembly elections from North Shillong.
He said that the meeting of KHNAM to be held this week, would highlight the party’s ideologies and agendas set for the upcoming elections, and urged all to join hands with the movement.
