Shillong, April 25: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Laittyra and Sohbar units on Tuesdaydemanded the state government to speed up repairing of the dilapidated 8 kilometers road from Mawsmai to Shella.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the PWD Secretary (Roads & Buildings) B Kharbuli, KSU Laittyra Unit president BS Lamin said that they have urged the department to immediately start repairing the road in view of the problems faced by people of the different villages falling under the stretch of this road.
He informed that as per the official of the PWD, the state government has already allotted the work for black topping of the Mawsmai to Shella road to the CCL Company at a cost of Rs 18 crore.
“We were told that the work is targeted to be completed within 24 months,” Lamin said.
