SHILLONG SEPT 8: The Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills has sentenced Shap Lamurong to life imprisonment for offences under the POCSO Act.

The case was registered at Khliehriat Women PS vide Case No. 3(02)2024 and investigated by WPSI L. Siangshai. 

The accused was arrested and charge-sheeted on April 12, 2024.

He was convicted under Sections 5(j)/5(m)/5(n)/6/9(n)/10 of POCSO Act and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life with fine of Rs 50,000 and 7 years imprisonment with fine of Rs 25,000 vide order dated August 24, 2026, police said.
