Meghalaya: The Center’s new policy that aim to prevent sale of cattle for slaughter turns ugly, as Over 5,000 BJP youth members quit the party

Shillong, June 08: As 2018 assembly election is round the corner, the state BJP is in another setback where more than 5000 youth workers led by president Tura BJP Youth president, Wilver Greham Danggo were on Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the party.
The protest against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government’s attempt to “suppress the tribal and other communities who consume beef”, BJP Youth Wing President of Tura city Wilver Greham Danggo, said.

We cannot play with the sentiments of our own people who trust us and we don’t mix politics with religion as the BJP is doing. Any party or individual that hurts the sentiments of our people will be against us we will protect our tribal land,” Danggo said.
Five BJP mandal committees have been dissolved, where two senior BJP leaders in Meghalaya, Bachu Marak and Bernard Marak, have also quit the party he added.

Danggo said that BJP government was making an attempt to suppress the tribal and other community who consume beef. He lamented that Modi’s “sabka saath sabka vikas” is not going well as cow vigilantes are killing people for cows.
