SHILLONG, JUNE 2: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday held a series of meetings with organisations, associations, community groups, and stakeholders at his official residence in Shillong to discuss welfare, development, employment, industry, education, and community interests.
The day-long engagement included representatives from Synod Sepngi and Mawphlang Presbytery, Holy Eucharist Church, The Lou Majaw Foundation, and noted woodcraft artist Gilford Pde from Jowai.
Discussions focused on church events, cultural initiatives, promotion of arts and crafts, environmental activities, and requests for government support.
Sangma also met delegations from the Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union, All Meghalaya Grade IV Government Employees Association, Meghalaya Election Enumerators’ Service Association (MEESA), and teacher trainees of DIET.
The groups raised issues related to welfare measures, honorarium, service matters, infrastructure requirements, sports-related concerns, and pending educational stipends.
Representatives of Bosco Integrated Development Society briefed the Chief Minister on ongoing development initiatives and community projects across the State.
In subsequent meetings, Sangma interacted with the Meghalaya Poultry Farmers and Welfare Association, All Khasi Hills A·chik Federation, Khasi Jaintia Government Contractors and Suppliers Association, Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturers Association, Hynniewtrep Youth Development Council, and Hynniewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum.
These discussions covered employment generation, industrial growth, recruitment concerns, contractors’ issues, labour welfare, youth employment opportunities, and matters relating to border villages.
Addressing the delegations, the Chief Minister said the government “remains committed to engaging with stakeholders across sectors and would examine the issues and concerns raised during the meetings.”
He reiterated the government’s focus on “inclusive development, responsive governance, and continuous dialogue with citizens and organisations to address challenges and advance Meghalaya’s development agenda.”
The meetings were part of the government’s “ongoing efforts to maintain close engagement with various sections of society and ensure that public concerns are heard and addressed through constructive consultation.”
