Meghalaya: Suspected GNLA rebels attacks coal trucks in Garo hills

Tura , Apr 29: The suspected militants of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) allegedly fired at the coal truck moving through the National Highway – 62 at Dambuk village, near Rongara in South Garo Hills of Meghalaya. 

 The police said that at around 9:30 p.m. on 27th , six to seven heavily armed militants, suspected to be from the GNLA fired at about 4-5 coal trucks plying through the route, adding that there was no casualty. 

 “Immediately after we received information on the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and search operations were launched in the surrounding areas,” said Abraham T. Sangma, SP of South Garo Hills. 

 In a separate incident on April 25, about five to sixsuspected of the same outfit allegedly beaten up a 14-year-old school boy as he was unable to answer their questions properly.

 The incident took place in the village of Dambuk Atong under Rongara Police Station limits. (ANI)
