Shillong, Nov 23: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has released its first list of 11 candidates for the upcoming 2018 state Assembly elections which include seven sitting members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
The list was declared by PDF acting president, Ivanlumlang Marbaniang after central election committee (CEC) meeting held here on Thursday.
In the first list, the candidates include Grace Mary Kharpuri (Pynursla), Banteidor Lyngdoh (Mawkynrew), James Sylliang (Mawhati), Morningstar Mawsor (Mawshynrut), Latiplang Kharkongor (Nongthymmai), Goodleaderson Nongsiej (Nongstoiñ) and Hadrian Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat).
Kharpuri is one among the three women sitting members of the KHADC.
The other candidates include former MLA, Draison Kharshiing (Nartiang), former KSU leader, Hamletson Dohling (Mylliem), Jason Sawkmie Mawlong (Umsning) and Airmarshall Diengngan (Ranikor).
PDF general secretary Auspicious L. Mawphlang said that the central election committee would soon announce the second list of candidates.
