Series of attack continues in the city: Shillong

Shillong, May 29: Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a tobacco shop in the city here on Monday. According to police, the incident took place at around 6 pm at Qualapatty Jeep Stand.

“Miscreants came and hurled a petrol bomb at the shop owned by one Santosh Kumar Jalewa,” a police officer said.

He however said only the mattress in the shop was partially and there was no injury reported.

In the past three days, the city has also witnessed as many as four cases of arsons and petrol bomb attacks, following the protest against the ongoing construction of the railway project in Ri Bhoi District.

East Khasi Hills District SP Davis NR Marak said that additional forces have been deployed in the state capital to ensure such anti-social elements do not get to create serious troubles.

According to him, checkings and patrolling have also been intensified in view of the incidents of petrol bomb attacks.

On Saturday, miscreants even tried to attack the Rynjah Police Station with petrol bomb.
