Shillong, July 14: Three Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) pharmacy outlets will be set up in Shillong.
Initially, the AMRIT pharmacy outlet will be set up in Shillong Civil Hospital thereafter at Ganesh Das Government and Maternal and Child Health Hospital.
The AMRIT pharmacy outlets will eventually be rolled out to other districts hospitals in the State.
To facilitate setting up of AMRIT pharmacy outlet in State government hospitals, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Meghalaya government and HLL Lifecare Limited on Friday.
The agreement was signed between the Mission Director, National Health Mission, Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang on behalf of the Meghalaya government and Director (Marketing), T. Rajasekar on behalf of HLL Lifecare Limited.
The Director of Health Services (MCH & FW), Dr. D. Lyngdoh and Regional Manager, HLL Lifecare Limited, Rupa Chakravorty were also present at the signing of an agreement.
AMRIT pharmacy outlets will sell both drugs and implants at significant discount on market rates, based on authentic prescriptions from doctors.
